History

In the French valley, small Cevennes valley of Lozere, a blacksmith or rather an edge tool maker manufactured tools, pickaxes, crescents, scythes, and knives.

The forging mill was installed at the edge of the brook the " Galteyrès " and the " iron " was heated to a cherry red in a fireplace. Then it was shaped with a tilt hammer (kind of power hammer), soaked in the water of the brook, added with oil of cade to control perfectly the hardness.

These knives called " Galteyres" resembled kitchen knives with a chesnut handle.

Yves Neveux, 60 years old, mechanical engineer, who has worked in a machine tools company, in plastic and petroleum studying offices is became the French specialist of the folding knives.
